Some quick number crunching for when it comes to making partnerships with the new Partner commanders coming in Commander 2016:
- Each deck has one allied color pair Partner and two different Partners of the same enemy color pair.
- In total, this means fifteen Partner commanders: One each of WU, UB, BR, RG, and GW, and two each of WB, UR, BG, RW, and GU.
- You can make seven pairings for each set of four colors. (e.g. 1 option WU+BR, 4 options of WB+UR, 2 options of UB+WR)
- You can make five pairings for each shard / set of three adjacent colors (e.g. 1 option of WU+UB, 2 options of WU+WB, and 2 options of WB+UB)
- You can make eight pairings for each wedge / set of three nonadjacent colors. (e.g. 2 options of WU+UR, 2 options of WU+RW, 4 options of UR+RW)
- You can make one pairing for each enemy color pair with the two Partner commanders of those colors.
- You can’t make any parings solely in a single allied color pair as there’s only one Partner commander in each allied color pair.
